Ascension Episcopal School
Ascension Episcopal School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Marshall Gray as the school’s next Head of Upper School.
Mr. Gray brings a strong background in academic leadership and college counseling, along with a deep understanding of student development and the evolving college landscape. He currently serves as Director of College Counseling and Academics at Episcopal School of Acadiana, where he plays a key role in academic planning, student advising, and guiding families through the college process.
His experience in independent school education also includes leadership roles, including Assistant Head of Upper School at The New School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Director of College Counseling at Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma City. He holds a Master of Public Service Administration from Texas A&M University’s George Bush School of Government & Public Service and a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Oklahoma.
Following a comprehensive search process, Mr. Gray was selected for his leadership experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to supporting students and faculty. His vision for education closely aligns with Ascension’s mission to foster both academic excellence and character development.
“I’m excited to join the Ascension faculty as Head of Upper School. As a parent and a spouse, I’ve seen up close what an incredible student experience Ascension provides, and what a wonderful community the Ascension family is… I feel well prepared for this next step in leading a school, and there is no other place I would rather take this step than Ascension. I am eager to get started—building relationships, learning what Ascension needs from me, and helping propel current initiatives forward.”
In his new role, Mr. Gray will work closely with school leadership to support a cohesive and engaging Upper School experience, focusing on strengthening academics, student life, and community connections.
Mr. Gray and his family are already part of the Ascension community, and Ascension Episcopal School is confident that Mr. Gray’s experience, perspective, and dedication will continue to advance the Upper School.
