Ascension Episcopal School concluded the 2025–2026 academic year with its annual End of Year Convocation, a celebration of student achievement, community, faith, and the shared experiences that define the Blue Gator journey.
Held before students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni, the event reflected Ascension’s mission of developing the whole child through academics, arts, athletics, leadership, and spiritual formation.
Throughout the ceremony, school leaders highlighted the unique benefits of Ascension’s PK–12 experience, where students grow within a connected community that encourages mentorship, character development, and meaningful relationships across every stage of learning. The year’s school theme, based on Matthew 5:14–16, focused on “letting your light shine” through leadership, service, perseverance, and faith.
Division leaders shared highlights from across all campuses, celebrating hands-on learning experiences, academic innovation, spiritual life, student leadership, artistic achievement, and athletic success. Students participated in experiential learning opportunities ranging from STEM projects and academic competitions to educational travel, service initiatives, and nationally recognized fine arts and athletic programs.
The Upper School celebrated the graduation of 62 seniors, who collectively earned more than $7 million in scholarships and completed over 6,000 hours of community service. Students also earned recognition in AP programs, National Merit honors, speech and debate, athletics, visual and performing arts, and leadership development programs, including Boys and Girls State.
Ascension also recognized exceptional achievements in athletics, including state championships in golf, track and field, gymnastics, and tennis, as well as deep playoff runs in football, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and basketball. Fine arts students were celebrated for standout performances in theatre, music, and visual arts throughout the year.
Several members of the Ascension community were honored for their leadership and service during the ceremony. Christy Franques and Tricia and Craig Campbell received the 2026 Gretchen Vincent Service Award in recognition of their extraordinary volunteer leadership and longstanding dedication to the school community.
The school also recognized faculty and staff members celebrating milestone years of service, including six employees honored for 10 years of service and Sue Pottle for 20 years of dedication to Ascension.
The 2026 Melinda Mangham Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to Lynley Jones for her outstanding commitment to student growth, Christian leadership, innovation, and excellence in the classroom.
A meaningful portion of the ceremony honored the lasting legacy of Ascension founder Dr. Jeanette Plauché Parker, whose vision for educating the whole child continues to shape the school community today. Her family presented the school with a special George Rodrigue print that will be displayed on the Sugar Mill Pond Campus as a tribute to her lifelong dedication to Ascension.
As the school year came to a close, the ceremony served as a reminder that Ascension’s greatest strength is its people — a community united by faith, excellence, service, and a commitment to helping students grow into confident, compassionate leaders.
