Blue Gators Shine Bright: Ascension Celebrates State Champions Across Multiple Sports

Ascension Episcopal School
Ascension Episcopal School’s student-athletes delivered one of the most successful championship seasons in school history this spring, earning state titles across golf, tennis, track and field, and gymnastics while continuing the Blue Gators’ tradition of excellence in athletics and academics.
The Blue Gators’ track and field team produced standout performances at the LHSAA State Championships held at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium, highlighted by several individual state champions and podium finishes.

Junior Bella Biggerstaff captured the Class 1A state championship in the girls' 3200-meter run, earning gold with a season-best performance after also finishing runner-up in the 1600-meter run. Her dominant distance performances helped lead Ascension’s girls team to a top-five finish at the state meet.

Junior Branon Mitchell showcased his versatility throughout the season as one of the state’s top multi-event athletes. Mitchell excelled in the javelin, long jump, and sprint events, consistently scoring points for the Blue Gators during both regional and state competition.

Senior Andre Abshire capped off an exceptional season in the hurdles, emerging as one of Louisiana’s top Class 1A competitors. Abshire delivered standout performances in both the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, helping lead the boys team at the state championships and posting one of the fastest 300-meter hurdle times in Louisiana this season.

Ascension’s success extended far beyond the track.

On the golf course, the Blue Gators captured their eighth state championship, continuing one of the premier golf traditions in Louisiana high school athletics. Junior Noah Chauvin also claimed his third individual state title, an extraordinary accomplishment that further solidified the strength of the program.

In tennis, freshman McAllister Morrow earned her second consecutive state championship, continuing Ascension’s growing legacy of excellence on the court.
The school also celebrated a historic first in gymnastics, with freshman Presley Hauser becoming Ascension Episcopal School’s first-ever state champion.

These accomplishments reflect Ascension’s commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who compete with discipline, resilience, humility, and excellence. Across every program, Blue Gator athletes continue to demonstrate what is possible when strong academics, dedicated coaching, and a supportive school community come together.
