Located near the tennis courts, softball field, and baseball field, the new Spring Sports Fieldhouse will include a concession stand, restrooms serving all spring sports venues, a baseball locker room, tennis storage space, and a welcoming gathering place for families, fans, and visitors.
“This project is a reflection of the incredible investment our community makes in our students—their experiences today and the opportunities they will have tomorrow,” said Sarah Davenport, Head of School. “It represents the very best of Ascension: families, alumni, and the school working together. Ascension has always been a place where people show up for one another, and I’m incredibly excited about where our programs and our school are headed.”
The fieldhouse represents a meaningful investment in the future of Ascension Athletics and will strengthen the experience for students, coaches, families, and fans who gather on the Upper School campus each spring. More than a building, it will serve as a hub for connection, support, and school spirit.
“I would like to thank our donors, families, Board, Athletic Department, and community partners for making this possible,” said Lonny Landry, Director of Athletics. “Facilities aren’t just buildings; they’re where culture is built and where young people grow into who they’re becoming. I’m excited for our current teams and for the students who will walk these grounds in the future and know they’re part of something special.”
The project was made possible through the full funding commitment of 40 generous donors and the Ascension Booster Club. Early planning and fundraising took place through conversations with a small group of committed supporters who believed in the project’s need, timing, and long-term impact.
“This project is a powerful example of what happens when parents believe in Ascension’s mission and step forward to help bring a shared vision to life,” said Katherine McCormick, Chief Advancement Officer, who spearheaded the fundraising effort alongside Ascension parent Craig Campbell.
For Ascension student-athletes, the fieldhouse will provide more than added convenience. It will create a stronger sense of place and pride for the teams who practice, compete, and gather on the Upper School campus throughout the spring season.
“This new fieldhouse will give us much-needed shade, cold water, a place to keep our tennis bags and equipment, and bathrooms just steps away between matches,” said McAllister Morrow, two-time state tennis champion. “We are so grateful to the generous donors. Thank you for investing in our team and in future generations of student-athletes!”
Ascension extends sincere gratitude to the generous donors and the Ascension Booster Club, whose support made this project possible. The school also recognizes AQ Architecture, All State Building Systems and the Anselmo Family, and Craig Campbell for their leadership, planning, and dedication in bringing this important project to life.
The Spring Sports Fieldhouse will stand as a symbol of the Ascension community's collective strength. It underscores the extraordinary outcomes possible when a unified vision and deep generosity come together to support the Ascension Blue Gators.
