"Lilly’s exceptional ability and work ethic have allowed her to advance two years beyond the traditional mathematics sequence, completing AP Calculus BC as a junior,” says Director of College Counseling Stephanie Fournet. “This year, Math Department Chair Taylor Ducote developed Foundations of Higher Mathematics to provide Lilly and another advanced student with continued challenge and preparation for college-level study.”

Her curiosity also reaches beyond traditional coursework. Through an independent study at Ascension, Lilly taught herself Python programming, an undertaking that speaks to her initiative and genuine love of learning.

Just as meaningful is the way Lilly uses her gifts within our community. She is a leader among her classmates, a varsity track athlete, and one of the founding tutors in our Learning Lab, where students help other students grow in confidence and understanding.

Lilly’s story reflects what we hope for every Ascension student: to be known, challenged, and deeply supported; to discover and pursue individual interests; and to use God-given talents in service to others.

Lilly will now complete the application process to advance to Finalist standing and be considered for one of approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships awarded in spring 2027.
