Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators had trouble keeping up with Iowa in an 11-3 loss on Monday at Ascension Episcopal School (Upper School Campus).

Iowa jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Bourque doubled, scoring two runs, Boudreaux singled, scoring one run, and Cockrell lined out, scoring one run.

Gros homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators.

Boudreaux earned the win for Iowa. The starter allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking five. Adams took the loss for Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators. The right-handed pitcher went four and one-third innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking four.

Gros provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Woodring led Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators with two hits in four at bats. Ascension Episcopal Varsity Blue Gators had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

Iowa tallied 11 hits in the game. Devillier set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Iowa with three hits in five at bats. Bourque and Fontenot were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Iowa. Gott and Maynor each collected multiple hits for Iowa. Iowa had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Boudreaux and Fontenot led the team with three free passes each.
